Default New to FI, opinions on this combo

I'm in the process of trading some parts for an STS kit. I've got an LS6 crate engine in my car now and was wondering if the following mods would be benificial. Obviously, I'm going back to stock manifolds first, then here's a cam choice as opposed to the LS6 cam:

Duration at 050 inch Lift: 216 int./220 exh.
Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.560 int./0.560 exh. lift
Lobe Separation (degrees): 114

Now here's what has me wondering. I can get a set of ported (Patriot) 806's for crazy cheap. Here's the specs:
Based on 97-98 LS1 806/853 casting number heads
67cc chamber
213cc intake runer
78cc exhaust runner
2.00" intake valve
1.55" exhaust valve
Uses perimiter bolt valve covers
Fully CNC ported
Stock Valvetrain
10:1 compression ratio
Flow:

Lift Intake- CFM Exhaust- CFM
.100" 63 57
.200" 128 103
.300" 188 141
.400" 234 176
.500" 268 196
.550" 283 206
.600" 289 212

Do you guys think it's worth the swap from bone stock 243's? I know the 243's aren't flowing that well. Any opinions would be appreciated!

a little more lobe separation wont hurt, and the duration is almost stock, if you want stockish idle and a lot of low end torque then that might not be a bad cam, but turbos usually dont need help making torque so I would step the cam up, as far as the heads go, there better, but I wouldent say a ton, some larger valves would be nice, upgraded springs are a must, lowering your compression to 9.5 or so wouldent be a bad idea either. My honest opinion is spend your money on a good set of rods and pistons, trust me on this one your going to want to turn the boost up real quick, its kind of like crack!!! then at least you will have a great foundation for tons of boost

Lol! I hear ya on that! I'd change the rods and pistons, but it is a daily driver and I can't really afford the down time. I've got the original LS1 that came out of the car (hydrolocked) and want to build up a low compression stroker when I have the money. Until then I'm just looking for something that'll be a nice driver. The compression is one of the reasons I was considering these heads. They'll lower it to around 10:1 from 10.5:1, not much, but that leaves a little more headroom. Thanks for the reply and keep 'em coming!

Changing heads for a half a point of compression, is a lot of work in my opinion. Shoot for aleast a full point if your going to lower it.

I'd put on some 317s to drop the compression a little. It may cost a little more up front but you'll be glad you did just for safety
