Default Piston Rings ? And Eng. Compression Help

Hey Guys Im Building A 5.7l Out Of A 5.3 Iron Block And My Question Is Witch Is Better To File Fit The Rings Or Just A Std. Piston Rings For 3.905 bore ,will The Std. Rings Work Fine Instead Of File Fitting The Rings Because I Cant Find Anybody That Can File Fit The Rings for me. And Also Will A Mahle Piston With -4cc With 317 6.0 Heads At 9.1 Compression Work Good and same as Some mahle Dish-16cc Pistons And A Smaller Cumbustion Heads Some 5.3 706 Heads At 9.1 Compression . The Pistion Dosent Has To Be Dish Right As Long Its At 9.1 Compression It Will Work The Same .so Thanks For Reading And For The Help ...this Eng Will Go On A Turbocharged With 10 To 15psi Thanks .

hey what about lower compression around 8.6 to 8.8 with this combo on my daily driver.
-with -9cc pistons with stock 72cc 317heads on a 3.905 bore would put you right at:
any body knows?. My compression calculator say 8.6 with .057 head gasket any body knows how thick is the original head gasket is it .057? thanks and with 0.001 deck clearance can anybody check.

-and are this rings good for FI engine :ACX105985Akerly and Childs1.5, 1.5, 3mm Low Tension File Fit Xtreme Piston Rings
or the

I am using the Mahle -2cc in my LS2 9.3 to 1 with a 4.005 bore and the same heads opened up to 74cc and run 18psi without issue. Here is a recent dyno at 18psi and 15psi. https://ls1tech.com/forums/attachmen...4&d=1202624964

The pistons are fine as long as you tune it properly the pistons wont be the weak link most likely you break drivetrain parts or lift the heads before you ever hurt the pistons. All that being said a dished piston will be stronger but it also alters the combustion chamber shape and changes the quench area, this can be good or a bad thing depending on your combo.

You should file fit the rings I am at .021 top ring and .026 second ring.

i was told to file fit them at -020-022 top ring, second ring .014-.016 and oil rings also have the correct end gap.012-.020 what do you think of this gaps what would be better at. And are you running with a turbo or a supercharger ? thanks for the help, info bro....

I am running APS twin turbo kit, on modern engines the second rings are gapped larger than the top ring. The belief is the larger second ring gap allows any gases that get past the top ring to bleed off pressure preventing the top ring from loosing its seal and fluttering at high rpms. I also verified this with Mahle and several top engine builders.

What do the ring manufacturers reccomend for ring gaps ?

As for filing....get a file, and file them lol
