Most miles Ive done in a weekend, is about 1200 ( yes, 1200 miles !!!! that was a long weekend !!! ), taking in 2 drag strips. One in the lower middle of England, and the other the Northeast coast of Scotland. I was only running very low 11's then though.

Normally a trip to go race is about 800 mile round trip. I drive it as I race it, aside from changing tyres. Im not saying it always goes perfectly, and doesnt require a little attention, but long drives are the easy bit for sure.

Spending all that money and worrying about gas, LOL

It was a minor concern for my when I was basing everything together for my build but not that much. My car is not a DD but I too want to have it to be able to take off whenever and whereever I want to. I didn't go with a huge cam and it will be lower cr running on pump gas. Meth added for the insurance on hot days and when boost is up.

The point of it is, if it is well designed as a package and not all out crazy than by all means. Most FI cars drive like stock until you lean on it anyways. I am not worried about it at all but built this and that doesn't promise anything though as long as you are aware of that. If I am miles and miles away from home on a trip I won't be driving it like I stole it.......... well to some extent anyways

Well the whole reliability on a trip never bothered me enough to give i much thought until I got to talking with my mustang buddy.I always had thought the blower would be fine crusing on trips. I guess I'm worried about nothing, its just the time and money I've got invested I guess. Ya'll have all been there though I'm sure.

i could understand lowering the boost by swapping out pullies for going on a trip, i mean there really isnt much need for all that power when your cruising ya know?!

With the right-sized bypass valve set up correctly the HP to run a blower at cruise is minimal. I have driven my 383 maybe 300 miles in a day - not as much as Stevie - but mileage is good unless you put your foot in it a lot. If I was going on a road trip I would bring probably (depending on the trip length) 2 extra belts and a jug of race gas or alky depnding on your poison. Nothing else is needed - certainly you do not need to remove or loosen your belt, and your off-boost tune should take care of the rest.

I swap out the DOT race tires for long trips where rain could be encountered. Other than that, clean the bugs off the windshield and drive.

Drove 900 miles from lower Alabama to Maryland. No issues and 24.1MPG on average
