Here is a C5 that all we did to the internals was add Callies Compstar rods and Diamond pistons, and kept the stock crank in it as well. It is at 740 rwhp and runs for two hours at a time on the 2.5 mile road course.

600HP ? no brainer, alum. block for sure. There was a thread a while back where someone ( W2W maybe ) showed some pics of an alum block after a season of racing. It had some hair line cracks at the top of the bores from stress. This was obviously a race car with god knows how much hp ( low mid 4 digits I think ). I wouldn't worry about the alum. block till you start pushing over 900 hp. Even then, you wouldn't likely have any problems unless you were at the track every weekend.

Kp on here has a thread about what his block looked like after 100's of track passes and like 50 dyno pulls. It has everything that was done to it and pictures of all the parts.
Just found it:

Change those oem bottom end bolts, and don't worry about the block. With a well put together engine the stock crank and block are impressive in regards to how much power they can handle. You don't want an oem bolt to let go on the bottom end though.
