Default Carb manifold with elbow?

I have seen many of you guys out there go with a carb style intake manifold with a sheet metal elbow with a throttle body bolted to that. I was just wondering if they flow better than an ls6 manifold. i am going to buy APS turbo kit when they come out wit there bigger one. Thanks guys i was really interested in this and not to mention i think it looks very good under the hood.

I think the dreaded #7 fuel distribution problems are why most people go with the carb style intake. It's just the design of the LS1/6 intake manifold for #7 to go leaner than the rest and the carb style intake solves that problem.

Ahh i see. is there a company out there that sells these as a kit, or do they have to be put together on your own. I was also looking to run a bit over 900 hp at the wheels as will this manifold support that?

Does anyone know if it makes more or less power compared to the LS6 intakes? I have been looking at that intake for a while now but I would not want to take a step backwards.

That theory has been debunked I thought. Wasn't it found that the coolant flow has more to with it. Someone put a LS6 manifold on backwards (can't remember who) and it was still the #7 that was lean. So its not the design of the LS6 manifold that is the culprit.

As far as them flowing any better, do a search. Its a matter of opinion right now, because no one has actually done any experimenting with real numbers. Someone else was going to test both here recently, but I don't think the test has been performed yet.

IMO you won't gain any power at all from the carb style manifold (or even a FAST for that matter) over an LS6.

I believe Kurt at Wheel to wheel installed a LS6 intake backwards and still observed higher EGT's on #7.
I would agree that the issue of the dreaded #7 melt down is cooling related.
The carb manifold will yield more even distribution to all cylinders, but will not likely add any more power to a properly tuned setup.
I am using one primarily for the old school look and for design flexibility.
Good luck !!!

Do you have a link? That is new to me and I'd love to read that. Thanks for the info...
