What Gear W/Turbo ***URGENT***
Hopefully I'm asking this question in the right place...
I have a 2001 WS6. I'm going to be installing a turbo this week and a new S60. The rear end I originally had built with a 4:10 as I did not intend to go with a turbo. I'm new to turbo and very concerned that the 4:10 is going to be way to much gear. Any input would be greatly appreciated---the sooner the better as I am picking up the rear end on Friday...
Thanks in advance!!

Need more info, trans, tire, power #s maybe. But generally high 2.xx to mid 3.xx is what most turbo guys run. Although there are some that run 4.10s. Depends on what you are personally looking to do with it too.

Def. need more info but just basedon what you've told us I would say around a 3.42 - 3.73 for a manual and 3.23-3.73 for an auto. Turbo's like a load and you'll stay in boost longer per each gear vs. a 4.10.
I ran a 4.10 when I first did my install a test drive and hated it. Run through the gears too quick and I hit peak boost too close to redline/shift point which was really a waste of turbo!

Sorry for not giving enough. It's a 6 speed--currently on stock 17 wheels & tires. I plan to street in 18's and race on 16's and am open to advice on tire size as that will clearly be my next purchase when this thing is done. The motor is all stock otherwise.

I'd go with a 3.42 in an M6 and possibly a 3.73. I may install a 3.73 eventually and see how she pulls then but for now I'm happy w/ the 3.42.
As far as tire sizes everone's going to have a different opinion but I run a 18x9.5 front and rear w/265/45/18 rubbers. Would like to run a bigger sidewall on the next set of tires though.

I was just talking to a friend that has a friend who's friend--jk--anyhow--he's running 15's with skinnies up front. Guess there are some mods that need to be made to the calipers in the rear and spacers or something like that in the front. Hope to see the car this week.

I have 3:73.1 in mine I get full boost in first at around 3400 rpm. I have a 4xx with a GTS 76 .81 AR. I love the pull up top and mid range, low end its hard to control. Im going back to 3:42.1 or even 3:23.1 for more load I hope to break the 200 mph mark at the texas mile soon.

Yep 3.54 is lowest option. Many cars on boosted list running 3.73 and doing great even in auto cars. I would think the 3.73 is a bit nicer off boost and easier on the clutch maybe in heavy car like mine.I also am going S60 and debating this choice. Think the 3.54 will be the one as its pretty good if go to auto later which might.

i put 3:08's in mine and i'm very pleased with them!!! I would be interested in trying out a set of 3:42's to see what i liked more, but for now i'm very happy with what i have!
Personally, my car is a 99.9% street car, and i think the tall gears help me hook up so much power..

Interesting
I have a 383 lingenfelter TT 01` ZO6 Vette that I am mostly going to use for Open Road Racing ( high speed time/distance/rally). I 3:42's right now and I am looking at going to 3:08's. Right now with even low boost the 1st 3 gears and next to useless. I know BFG/Nitto ect street slicks would help but not worth crap at high speeds for distance.
