Default 3" pipe into T4 flange help

Alrighty, i searched a while back and found some posts where someone said to put it in a vice and that's pretty much all that i remember, i did a search again this morning and i cant find it anymore! Do yall have any tips and tricks to get that sucker to form into a square? i'm using my caveman tools.....lol, so yeah cant really heat it with a heat torch to melt it into place.

thanks for yalls help and once i get some more progress i'll start my build thread

I remember that post. Didn't someone mention something about finding a company that made this transition? Maybe they will chime in again.

yeah i know that website that you are talking about, but it takes about 4 days for that part to get in, i didnt think i would make that much progress in one day to the point that i would need that part yet, but heh i got to the point were i need it now, and i only have today off then have to wait 2 weeks to work on the car again. basically i dont want to waste this day and not do anything to the car

ok first attemp looks like a chineese death star, going to cut that piece off and try again. i was able to get it pretty close but dose it HAVE to go inside the flange? or can it be alittle overlapped? i'm thinking of welding it all up and going in with the grinder and making the edge flush with the pipe.... think it'll work? kinda like a backwards port job

mmm!!! got it done, ok what i did was i first used the vice to make it ovel (i put the tube at the edge so that i could come in with my hammer and hit it from the open side to give it a side, then i flipped it over to do the other side) after i got it in a rounded square shape i ended up going to the garage and using the blue pliers to shape it into shape, i put the flange over the tube to see where my progress was going. i ended up put the tube against the flange instead of INSIDE the flange, and that was even better as the walls are perficatly flush with the flange

i'll take a pic once i get it all welded up

the second pic looks great, better then i would have done.
the first pic i would have made it work by putting it in the pipe, then weld the corners, then bend out the middles to fit the pipe then finish welding.

good job though.

aaaaaaaaand done!! i went in there with the grinder to smooth the walls alittle more, didnt take much though, i'm happy with the way it came out, the walls are smooth and you can run your finger against them without cutting them! but sadly it took me basically all day to get one thing done....owell such is the way of custom ****, specially for first time doing it

i made alittle progress today mounting up the crossover pipe and stuff, i think yall will like my "fresh" idea when i'm ready to post some pix, my only concern right now is i grinded some of the welds down and think i left some parts pretty thin i'm not going to sand them down anymore. i just wish i had a tig so that they could look pretty like ya'lls!

i think i'll dig the deathstar out of the trash and make it into a trophie or something

Yeah it takes some practice to get it right. I went to autozone and bought some cheapie aluminized mild stuff and made one or two before doing the T6 transition for my bro's car.
Keep up the good work

I made it more complicated than you. I took 2 2.5" pipes and had them come together and then made them flare to the flange. I like doing things the hard way
