Default Gen-TT G8 at the track :)

Happy times here for the LS1 Turbo camp (www.ls1turbo.com.au) thats for sure at the Aussie 2008 LS1 Drag Nationals with a great couple of days racing turning out some excellent results, resetting some of our own existing PB times, and creating a few more benchmarks giving the others something to follow

First up was our Gen-TTR VX (GTO Gen-TTR kit). This well known car steered by our own Gareth already had the title of being fastest factory 4 speed LS1 in the country, and with a bit of new setup to help launching since last outing (Holden Drag Nationals last year) we were really looking for an improvement...and we got one

Screwing off the line with a 1.5 second 60 foot time the little VX posted a best ET of 9.90 seconds and clocked 144mph through the traps. This resets the previous record time of 10.1 (held by this car) and shows that with the right combination of tried and tested parts the 4L60 can take a bit of punishment....we will see for how long

The engine is still the stock compression, stock cylinder heads, stock head gasket, factory alloy block 346 with JE pistons and Eagle rods. The turbocharger system is our off the shelf GTO Gen-TTR production piece using no special or modified components vs the product we supply to a customer right from the dump pipes down to the GTDW2848 turbochargers

RECORD -
FASTEST A4 LS1 IN AUSTRALIA

Next up is our G8 Ute 'TUNER01'. We really didnt know what to expect from this one, as not only have we never taken a Gen-TT G8 of any kind to the track, there was also the unknown of the factory 6 speed auto which will no doubt be past its recommended torque rating. Just to add some spice I drove the G8 from Adelaide to Heathcote....a near on 1000 mile return journey all up

Off with the 20 inch rims I run on the street and on with the drag radials....off with the factory stock exhaust (I shouldnt have really bothered with this but it sounded cool) and on with the little dump pipes we made (read: too tight to buy a twin 3 inch). Fitted up with out Gen-TT VE/G8 BB Intercooled Twin Turbocharger system and filled to the brim with fuel to avoid surge, the G8 slams the scales at 4100lb....certainly not a stripped out funny car style setup!

Friday night was a write off with no grip, so on Saturday close to the middle of the day the ute came out in a nice fine 83 degrees heat and pulled off an 11.25 @ 128mph, the only issue being the transmission banging the limiter on the 2 - 3 change and costing substantial time....with this being due to slippage (combination of sticky tyres and track) we decided to pull the pin on winding up the tune and possibly the boost (on 8psi for the 11.2 run) to roll off an easy 10....heres the specs

ENGINE
Stock with 918 valve springs
Gen-TT VE BB Intercooled Twin Turbo kit
DRIVELINE
Stock 2.92 gears
Stock 6L80 auto transmission
Stock Stall Converter

RECORD -
FASTEST A6 IN AUSTRALIA

Its only a little stock block 346 with stock heads the works
Just a small cam and our Gen-TTR kit at 15ish psi, so I would suggest around 800hp at the crankshaft

ya, trapping 144 on a stock headed 346 is pretty ******* amazing if you ask me (unless it weighs like 1900 lbs )

congrats on the numbers guys!

The engine is totally stock save for JE pistons, Eagle rods and 918 springs. Stock heads, rockers, valves, pushrods, gaskets, crank, 4L60E....they are a tough little thing
Here is the drivers view - http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=xhFIuNeWB7k
