Default Question about Patriot heads...

Are the decks thick enough to handle ~15psi?

I'm thinking of going with their LS6 Stage 3 heads...

They are good heads but I think if you are going forced induction your better off spending a little more money to get the thicker decks of an after market head and head studs. There are used after market heads in the parts section from time to time .

Yeah I planned on ARP head bolts.

Do you know the actual thickness difference between say Patriot and AFR heads? I'd like to know the numbers before making a decision like this.

Kyle pushed a set of patriots to something like 1100rwhp. I had a set and opted to swap them out for etp's. I don't know the deck differance between the 2 but the etp's are thick.

Yeah we made 1033rwhp with Kyle's at 30psi but the head gaskets let go right after, low 20's is the most you should go with stock castings, and def use head studs with that

I bought head studs. I'm thinking now that I'll go for their LQ9 Stage 3 heads.

My other question: Is a thicker or thinner gasket going to be better for setup like this?

Yeah and we didnt spin the motor that high either...... maybe 5000rpm..... we didnt mean to make that much boost LOL

I ran the car EVERY DAY at 14 psi on pump 93.... drove it everywhere like that.... It was a on the street like that.

If your not going to push it in the high teens in boost then ida say its money well spent and go for it.

The decks on the stock casting heads should be plenty thick enough for 15psi.
