Default 4l80e and turbo car

ive searched and searched trying to find out what the power level is with a stock 4l80e. im confused some say 550 some say almost 700.

i dont wanna keep rebuilding my 4l60e eveytime something breaks.

has anybody ran a stock 4l80e on FI appl. how long did it last and how much hp and tq?

also can i use stock converter?

my car is not gonna be a track car only a couple times a month. I would like OD never driven in turbo400 so i dont know how they feel and if they can be driven on the street with out be annoying.

this is probably the hardest decision to make

my goal is 800 to the wheels.

I asked this question also. 500rwhp is about the max to put to it and still live. I definatley would not put 700-800 to a stock 4L80e and expect it to live long. the stock convertor is also weak for the power you want. I went with a Yank SC3000. I hear that these are very tight converters and are very strong.

It doesn't take much for someone that knows how to build 80's to make them stout enough to easily handle 800 rwhp. They are getting cheaper every day too.

Give Chuck a call at Finish Line, he can steer you in the right direction.
800HP to the ground will require a purpose built trans for sure.

Quality Quality Quality

Parish8 pushed his FLT to over 1k hp on a twin turbo setup on a FLT LevelV in a 4000lb truck

remember the 4l80e was designed to go behind a diesel (FI) with huge Torque numbers

us truck guys take them to 700hp on just a shift kit all day long and drag extended cabs into the 11's on stock stalls

Head over to the Automatic Transmission section of the forums and look at all the 4L80 info... there's guys running them over 700rwhp stock. All of the swap info is in there too.

I took my 4L80e to a local, reputable transmission shop. I told him what Im doing with it and he told me $1150 and garunteed to handle 1000HP. The guy is good. Another Ls1tech member is running mid 9's NA with one of his built trannys.

This is what I did too along with a custom 3000 stall, TCI flexplate and all the swap parts. It has just finished being built and still at the shop however I might be selling it now. Upgraded eagel clutches, overhaul kit, etc, etc it was going to live behind 1000fwhp with no probs

I don't think it takes too much to make an 80 stout. I had mine built with red clutches, kolene steels, and replaced all the seals and bushings. I spend about $700 total on parts and labor to rebuild it locally. No point in spending a boat load of money unless you are shooting for > 1000 hp.
