Default Noob to turbos

I am wondering about twins vs a single. I have an LS1, maybe a 383 for the turbo build. I want to start making boost at around 2-3k. I also want 600-800 usable horsepower. I don't care about making 5 billion horse power at 7k. I want to be able to make power asap. Not one of the those guys that has to brake boost or play catch up when the boost hits.

So, would I be better off getting two smaller turbos or one bigger turbo? I want the boost as soon as possible and the 600-800 rwhp. I do not want a peaky turbo system.

Thanks

What are the plans for the car? street car or track car? There are a ton of options out there. A little bit of lag isn't a bad thing in my mind. Get some traction and then hold on. For your power goals an aps setup may work out very well. What size engine do you have also?

I have a 5.7 ls1. Might do a 383 since I will rebuild the block if I go boost. It will be mostly a street car. I basically want a turbo set up that makes power under the curve.
