Default Turbo motor longevity, is it a problem??

I have recently been told that a LS turbo motor setup will need a complete rebuild each year since the LS1 was never designed for the heat and stress of a turbocharged system, unless they have it completely built with adjustable parts such as the adjustable rockers etc... and would need a rocker adjustment once every month. Can some turbo people here please tell me the truth about how it is living with a LS turbo motor setup, and what your experience has been with maintenance over the first 1-2 years. Are you a daily driver with the setup? how many miles have you driven with what kind of maintenance? I preferably would like to hear some feedback from some who have driven at least 5k miles or 1 year or more on their LS turbo setups.

Make damn sure whoever told you that never touches your car!

My total maintenance with my twin turbo C5 (650-700 rwhp) has been oil changes every 3,000 miles.

I just pulled out my forged 347. It had almost 65k in 2 1/2 years. A bearing was going out in it. The motor was in great shape except for the bearing. Work out of the truck on a daily basis. Same maitenance schedule as when it had a stock engine.

Three trips from TX to GA in he same year every 3k oil change every 10 k plug change depending how hard I run it. Who ever told you that is not that bright. The maintance level goes up with the hp goals and the turbo system type.

Also: It's not how long you drive it, it's how hard you drive it.

9k miles on the turbo set-up since last fall. Just the normal oil changes, etc. Probably need to check plugs soon too. Fun DD's rock!

Ha, clutches are killing me, so is the price of gas and methanol... But the motor? That's the only good part.
