1dirtyZ V3.2 build (F2 procharger , 427, etc. )
since its the off-season on this side of the world, i decided to go ahead and start the re buildup of my camaro ( that and the stang and the scout ) and document it here so i can keep a record of what i done.
my last season racing was horrible for this car, tons of issues that had to be tracked down and broken parts , so i decided to kinda start over.
here is a little background on the car: its a 99 camaro , 427 aluminum block , l-98 heads, th-400 , methanol injection , F1-R blower and front mount . basically a drag car now.
i've decided to upgrade / redo alot of things ( some i already started ), so i'll post pics as i go .
here's how the car started

i got a set of aerospace brakes for all four corners , that and with the abs delete dropped about 65 lbs if i remeber correctly off the nose.
i also ripped and redid the electrical wiring from bumper to bumper , in the bottom of the pic you can see the "nerve center" of the car , all electrical stuff goes there
i also gutted the dash and removed the carpeting for loosing more weight.

loo, thanks venom ws6 , i don't think i even saw that vid before
i used the L98 heads cause of their flow ( something like 360 cfm on the intake side , and quite a bit on the exhaust - thats alot compared to the patriots i had on there before).
the car has the l-76 intake on it , but i will be swapping it to the GM performance carburator intake and elbow.
like i said , this season was just bad. the blower took a carp, electrical problems all over the place , tranny slipping, you name it i had it but on the positive side , the stang really shined ( i'll be starting a thread regarding the build of that thing too )
gordon, thats the next plan , i'm also looking into an lsx shortblock in the near future ( i hope )
websy, the taking appart part didn't take that much, its the putting back together part that sucked , i got to give credit to the guys at SLR over here, they helped out with the wiring quite a bit !
and now that i look at the pics , GOD DAMN this camera makes the car look 10 times dirtier than it is !!!

i also finished relocating a few things: i relocated my water injection pump and tank for better access to the location you see here , you can also see the remote battery disconnect solenoid .
i also removed the factory radiator puke tank and relocated my battery to the trunk to make room for the new puke tank and Accusump.
i still need to plumb the accusump , i'm just waiting for a few fittings that should be here soon

1DirtyZ IMO the L76 will kill the car and L98 Heads do flow very well compered to your old stg 2 patriot
But dont think afermarket casting will be bette with thick deck????
How much boost are you planning to run??? the F2 is a mean SOB I'm only asking to see if your worried about the head lifting problem.
And yeah I have a couple of vids of your car against TNTaddict

i also removed the headlights ( ahhh, the things we do to loose weight ) and covered up the hole they left with black headlight covers. i had to fab a brace to hold them from caving in at high speed. their bottoms are screwed to the front bumper.
i'll snap a pic of that tommorow , but you can see part of the barace in the last pic.

when i had the heads , the only option was either the truck intake or the l76. i have the carb intake now which should flow pretty well. i totally agree with you , thicker heads are a definate plus , but for now, i'll stick with the l98's till i get a 6 bolt block
as for boost, i'm looking for 20 psi ( the F1-R was maxed at 12 psi on this motor), if the tune is ok , head lifting shouldn't be an issue at that level .
do you have the complest run on vid?? ( does it show when i got sideways?)

funny you should mention that , it was washed about two weeks ago ( the car is garage kept) before i went to the track . but on the way there i was driving for 4 hours through a dust storm, and on the way back it was a SAND storm , there was san in every nook and cranny in that car !
this is the crap i had to deal with for 8 hours ! and to make it even more fun :35 mph cross winds !
