Default Has anyone done the magna charger from LM

I'm in the market for some forced ponies! Despite cutting the cowl it looks like a relatively simple set up. I'm looking for an easy (Is there really such a thing?) 450 HP. If anyone could divy up a little info, I'd like to know what's up!

There's quite a few of us that have done it. If I remember right someone with a stock engine except for the maggie and headers made 480rwhp with tuning. The kit install is not that detailed, lots of little parts are extra in the kit, the patch panel comes in the kit for the cowl and if you can tack weld you can do it. It'll take you a good 8-10 hrs at least to get it done if you keep moving, and are only tackling the blower kit install. Mine took two months, but I did heads, cam, exhaust, and suspension at the same time and tried to clean the engine bay up too. I recommend getting Ed's kit with everything in it rather than trying to piece a few items together on your own, Ed assembled the kit and has it all together for you, figured to work together very well.

Cool! I'll check out that classified! I have a Z06 cam and LQ9 heads that I've had for a while now. Got them both really cheap. I figured what the hell they can't hurt! I hate to cut the cowl, but I'm sure the end look will do it justice. Especially w/ a polished one. I'm a fan of older hot rods as well and like the old style look of the roots and carbs. I think that this would be a fitting modern day representation. I guess I'll have to look into lowering springs or bigger wheels to bring the front end down for the spacing. It would be nice to see some pics of the wheel gap it leaves from k-member spacer.

It is only a 3/4 inch spacer put in between the body and the k-member bolts, it isn't even noticeable. Everybody gets carried away with putting the spacers in and worries about changing the geometry, blah, blah, blah....it hasn't effected my steering, handling, or anything else, car handles just like before on cruise in part throttle, only gets the rear end loose under boost.

I'll post some pics of the spacers and the finished job...

the cowl cut

the finished job

Next to an identical car with stock suspension

You can't even see the cowl cut with the trim piece on it just lays over the top of the blower. If you try to get an ant's eye view you can catch a little glimpse of the cut, but thats about it.

Wow, that's pretty awesome! I was thinking it would be a bit worse than that height wise. Thanks for the pics! Your right, the cowl isn't noticeable at all!

I can't lower mine right now, I have a brace for the torque arm with a driveshaft loop that hangs too low now and at stock height it drags speed bumps. Until I change that it's gotta stay high. It would work well with a lowered car though.

It was fun for the first couple years. Got tired of maintaining a FI car in general and felt I took the STS to the streetable limit....so it's been sold.

Working on creating a naturally aspirated combo and seeing if I can make the same peak HP w/ more under the curve Installing a Moser 9" at the moment and will be adding a GMMG catback as soon as UPS delivers it. Heads/cam change soon to follow...... want to see what the current combo can net NA first.

I have badmonkeys old car retuned to 480/480 w/ stock manifolds and cats. this thing is freakin awesome! I just put the ARHeaders (1-7/8) I lost 1.5#s of boost, I dont know about the dyno #s yet but the SOTP dyno says at least 25 rwhp.

Quiet until about 2500rpm, that's when things change.
