Default Forced induction timing and air fuel?

Hey guys, the general consesus is that around 14* of timing and 11.5:1 air fuel ratio is safe for stock motors. Just curious to what your settings are or what you shoot for when tuning? How would you set up a stock ls6, paxton novi, headers and meth.

Thanks

The amont of boost is the determining factor. When I had the STS on the car, it was at only 5PSI and a stock shortblock. Ran a 11.1 to 0 AFR and 20degrees timing. Car liked that. If I was running 8PSI I probably would have reduced the timing a couple degrees.

You can set a baseline for initial street tuning at 14 degrees, but the dyno will let you know what the car really likes......which in my case was 20.

I had my STS cranked up to 11 PSI on a stock bottom end plus higher compression Patriot heads. I started at 10* then just logged and looked for knock retard and backed it off till there was none, motor has held together for a year, and I am not exactly....well.. gentle

Wow 20* of timing. Well at least I know I can go up. Mine is like 10* and 10.0 to 1 AFR. Plan on runing more timing and leaner mixture say 11.5 to 1, and 15*(now that I have an intercooler). I am also on stock long block with 106,000 on the clock, heads never pulled! Plan on running 8-10psi real soon.

We will see how it goes, should be done next month for sure.

Boost will be about 8-9 psi intercooled. How much power is gained from from 1 full point of air fuel ratio? I've also read that 2* of timing could be worth over 20 rwhp.

If you are running meth i would lean it out a little more and throw more timing at it. What mix are you running? What nozzle size?

For a comparo,

Im running a stock motor'd lsj (s/c cobalt)

28 psi, a 11.8afr at toe in leaning up to a 12.3 at redline and 21* timing on a 50/50 mix and 5gph nozzle.

2* for every 50 hp is a rule of thumb, but do what works best for your application. The afr seems a little rich you should be fine in the mid 11's
