Default 317 heads cleaning them up?

Well i just picked up some 317 heads for a good price for my build i also got some prc duals to put on them. my question is should i slide the valves out and clean them up my self if so what do u recommend or take them to a local machine shop and have them clean them up and add in some new valve seals?

Thanks guys

I had a shop do an angle job and level them out before using my 317's. That is a pretty cheap thing to get done.

Go get a tube of lapping compound for $4. I used a drill to lap mine, put the stem of the valve in the drill and lap away.. and valve seals are easy to change, take the old ones off with a pair of vise-grips. No need for a machine shop to do either.

Take them to a shop to make sure they're good and you're not missing anything. I'm all for savin a buck or 2 but don't skimp out on that deal. I did the same thing you did, the machine shop stripped the heads, replaced a couple of the valves with some replacement stockers, cleaned up EVERYTHING, resurfaced them to make sure the decks were good and straight, and installed some PRC springs I brought into them - they charged me $150 for all of that I think. Well worth the money if you ask me.
