Default aftermarket blowers on ZR-1??

hey all,

I was wondering what kind of mods will be available for the ZR-1. Are these motors coming with forged internals? I was just wondering if you will be able to put a lot more boost in them like the 03/04 cobras, or if anyone will be offering an aftermarket blower for them? If so.... HOLY COW that's gonna make even more nastyyyyyyyy. ZR-1=boner

I am sure it will all come with time. The first thing will be pulleys, bolt ons and tunes. The the big stuff like bigger blowers and people turbo charging. If we can make 825whp with a lq9 then 1000+ should not bee a problem with the ls9, and it might even be some what reliable.

I heeard a rumor that the blower pulley would be welded from the factory to the blower on the LS9. Can anyone verify or refute this?

Heard the same. Waiting for people to actually start getting them to verify. KB is developing a blower I do believe...

Well with the welded pulley, what is the boost supposed to be? 5-7ish or more.

Why in the hell would anyone buy a $100k+ car and try to mod it when they could just buy a base vette and build it even better for less $$$?

Could not have said it better myself. A built LS3 and APS kit with a few suspension mods and the Z06 fenders etc.... and you still save over 50k after the markup on these things.

I would.

In all honesty, these cars will be easy to mod, just pick your apporach.

You could,...re-tune,long tubes,X pipe, different cold air(no air silencer/restriction), better plugs, ..port the TB, port the heads, change the camshat,...etc tec.

Or,..i'd just remove the blower, put on a sheet metal manifold, and either go single/twin/or centrifugel.

just save all the stock parts, and your good to go. In the end,..it's an LSX,...no some platinum superduper5 valve motor or some ****.

These cars will be monsters.

Crank pulley can only get so big before physical interference.

Monsters? Yeah, I doubt I'd call it a monster. Probably 75% of the FI cars in this forum are already faster than the ZR1 will be. I doubt the stock longblock is gonna be up to the task of making sick power, so in the end the thing that makes this car "special" will be the first thing to go to be faster.

You're right though, in the end its just an LSx. A $100K+ LSx that makes 630 HP. Awesome.

I'm sorry, but my Viper ($38K)+ small blower ($7K)= kick ZR1 *** all day. Theres no way I'm paying $100K for ANY GM vehicle. They are nuts.

There are a lot of ignorant posts in this thread

A: the zr1 makes the power it does on 10.5psi

B: the pulley is press on

C: To all the people who are knocking the car becuase your built f body or base vette is faster for cheaper, you are immature. There is more than just one reason to buy this car sure speed is one thing but how about the prestige of driving a limited production car not a dime a dozen f body or base vette. The car will make big numbers period, no one here has a good idea of the capabilites of the blower becuase none of you run it or have probably seen a car with a tvs on it.

+1

Id say well over 50% of the cars on this board would drag a ferrari in the straights, but Id still take a Ferrari anyday.

Its not all about speed with every car.

My car makes more then double the power a ZR-1 does. And gets a lot of attention. Prob as much as Vettes or even exotics. But if i had 100K to spare. I'd be buying a ZR-1
