FI and engine stroke???
I am going to be building a single turbo iron block.
I have heard different things regarding stroke and turbo's
I had planned on going to a 4" crank but lately i have been hearing the shorter stroke works better with the turbo.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks

A stock crank is from what I read on here is good till 900 hp. A bored out 6L Iron
block .030 over and stock crank will give you a 370ci. The engine reves up quick.
I however will be going with a 4" crank BECAUSE my STAGE 2 APS KIT is made for larger cubic engines, 427...!!!!

thanks i knew the crank would hold just wanted to make sure i wouldnt be hurting efficiency or anything like that going to a larger cubic inch engine.
id rather have a 408 or more than a 370 anyday

One thing to consider is that the 4" stroke will pull the piston further out the bottom of the cylinder which can contribute to excessive oil consumption and piston wear.
For street driven cars this can be a PITA, for a race car it's not as big of a problem.
Make sure the turbos match the final desired engine displacement either way.
If you are planning on going with the stroker setup, make sure to upsize the turbos now because they will run out of breath sooner on a larger engine.

turbos love stroke,a 4'' stroke will spool a turbo faster than a 3.62 stroke any day,but the important thing as said before you need to match everything.i've built some stock disp twin turbo stuff that didnt have turbo lag at all, acted like a big block or something.it's all in the combination.

BUT....your turbo kit will make more power on the smaller engine. Just as long as the spool is where you want it.

Goals are going to be able to get into the 9's then start really leaning on it and upping the boost to see where i can get from there.
Car will have a Stenod 12pt and a 9" with 3.70-3.90 gears and a 4L80E
Car will be a track car that goes to work and a show here and there.
Thanks for all the input guys
