Default Turbo blanket

Sup, I finally ordered one I kept forgetting to. Did putting one on help anyone with temps or performance? Thanks.

Made boost about 100 rpm sooner and undertemp about 100 cooler on my dodge diesel....50 rpm may not seem like much but when you only have 3500 it sure helps.

To tell you the truth, I've never NOT had one on, but I believe I've come across a few posts in the past where users described temps/spool before and after throwing the blanket on.

Nice. How about engine temps, think that would make a difference too? I definitely need to bring the underhood engine temps down.

I've got a makeshift blanket 'kit' on mine currently (pic below)

I'm considering getting rid of it (it doesn't fit super tight on the turbo - came in a kit that I cut up and put together myself) and getting a better one that was made for this turbo from forcedinductions in a couple months. I'm kinda new to the underhood temps, but it seems quite a bit hotter than my longtube n/a motor did - I just figured that was the nature of the beast. I'm guessing an fi.com blanket would work much better.

Does anyone know if removal of the turbo is necessary to fit one of the fi.com units on?

I have an FI.com T5 blanket on my 1.1 ar T4 ST80 housing and it is pretty loose. It still keeps heat in though.

No the turbo does not have to be removed. It can be put on quite easily.

Yep! Finally got it all together and the engine bay cleaned up some. Still awaiting the tune, hopefully have some 7-8psi numbers middle of sept. and some track times within a week or 2 after!

DrTurbo, post some pics of your blanket. I've been looking for two quality T4 blankets.

OMG, your blanket is having a beer! Does it pass out after that, or just make passes at ugly fat chicks?
But seriously, looks nice. Be interested to see what changes you see, both temps and spool times.
