Tips to launching a 6speed turbo car..
Finally got the car to the track, and found out how hard it is to launch a 6 speed turbo car. Car ran a best of 11.50 @128.66mph w/ a 1.92 60ft. I was launching the car at 3500, and the front end would come up, drop, and then jump up when the boost kicked in. Is there a way to get it into boost faster without revving it up higher? I am still on a stock geared 10 bolt, and 17's with mickeys, just hoping for at least a 1.7 like it did with cam only w/ 4.10's
Thanks
Chris
Thanks

Yeah I was thinking about the 2-step, but it is going to be a bit before that. I was thinking of slipping the clutch a bit, but was scared to burn it up. I was also going to try to rev the motor while releasing the clutch instead of holding a constant rpm. Anyone else, I am trying again tomorrow night!!

You're lifting the wheels on a stock 10-bolt turbo car? Should feel happy you still have a 10-bolt.
BTW, if it's lifting the front tires off the ground, traction is not the issue. As stated before,a 2-step would help the launch.

He's not lifting the tires off the ground with a 1.92 60 guys. No worries, I ran 1.71 60's on my 4.10 10 bolt and it didn't grenade. With the turbo I would've ran the same 60, launched the same way... 3 grand, and ride the clutch full throttle until just before the 60 so it never dropped below 4 grand, which on the street would even load the rear mount in the TA in 1st gear to get SOME + boost, even with 4.10's.

with traction, and a 2 step.....you ll probably get right into the 1.55-1.65 area and run some 10.7-10.9's.
I trid out the two step last night for the first time, and its a whole new game in the 60 ft.

What were your 60's before and do you think you can semi acuratly judge how much harder the car is leaving now?

Thanks for the replies everyone. The car is far from pulling the tires, when I say the front comes up, I mean unloading the suspension. I will try to ride the clutch a little bit, hopefully the 10 bolt holds up, at least now I have 3.42's in it, so it is a touch stronger. My goal for the car is 10's, so if I don't get in there as it sits now, the meth and 2 step should do it.

I do have a lot of experience though, from 7 sec dragsters, to awd vans, and everything inbetween. So I d like to think I can judge the improvement with confidence. I was just out playing with the 2 step. I was able to build 5 psi, and ofcourse kill the tires. With traction it deffinately gets into power soon enough to pull down atleast 1.6 60's probably 1.5's. We have now put a lot of miles on the car and have gained confidence n this trans and diff so sat I expect some decent times.
I think Ill turn the alky on pressure up, cause it was just coming on one the two step at 5 psi, so that may have hurt the pressure build past that. Hell Im happy as can be with 5psi on the line, it immediately goes up as soon as it sees load.
A rolling 70 mph 3 rd gear clutch(build 5 psi) and drop is really fun too.....like break boosting an auto, with the added benifit of the manual drop.
