Cool D1SC/P1SC supporting-mods list

Looking at a P1 or D1 w/ dual intercoolers..

I just want to confirm some of the supporting mods i'll need:

1. bigger fuel pump

2. injectors

3. LS6 or FAST intake (currently running stocker LS1)

4. others?

Just trying to get an idea on the parts list so I can start budgeting. Current mods are in sig.

how much boost are you looking to make? how much power do you want? Every thing in your list will be needed. Also depending on how much power you want to make you'll want forged pistons/rods, blower cam, ls2 timing chain or a double roller ect. at some point.

You might want to add "a new forged bottom end" if you plan on making it last.

We have had a lot of cars on the stock bottom end last for a long time.

This RX7 with an ATI ProCharger D-1SC on it's LS1 with a stock bottom end has been together for three years or so.

This C5 Corvette is the September calandar car on ProChargers calendar this month. It has been together for four years with a stock bottom end.

This 2004 GTO was the very first GTO that we ever put an ATI ProCharger on, back at our old shop. The owner called me two weeks ago to ask me what spark plugs he should install. It is his daily driver, and has never had any problems with it.

This 2005 GTO sees a lot of dragstrip action, we installed the ProCharger on it several years ago, no problems so far. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...Car.php?car=46 Bob

Bob, I definatly can't argue that there are cars that have done it before, but there are also plenty of others that haven't. If you wanted to go the cheep route, you could probably get by with changing the rod bolts and a few other small things. But the only way to really ensure that the bottom stock end will take the moderate amount of boost a D1SC will put out, would be to forge the bottom end. Then and only then, will he know for sure it is built to withstand the boost for years to come.

I'm not saying its impossible or that it hasn't been done as bigblock4 has. The problem is that you really don't know how long it will hold. It might make it 25,000 miles before something major goes, or it might not make it 2500 miles before it fries a piston. I have known people that have had results one way, and others that have ended up looking for a new block before they were expecting to change their oil after the supercharger.

The only way you will have a reliable blown street car with any moderate (>8-10+#'s) amount of boost, will be to build the bottom end for it. Non forged internals along with a high CR is not a good combo for long lasting boosted cars. Even the guy who made it 25,000 miles agreed to that.
