Default So my Fast 90 blew up

Well the lower portion cracked and pushed the 2 center screws out with around 14 psi of boost. I guess i needed burst plates?

Sucks.

I am going to go with an ls2 intake I think. Has anybody had any luck with these?

That is very bizzare. Did you put the shorter valley cover bolts on there otherwise that is your problem. Fast includes those shorter bolts .
There is no reason for the fast 90 to crack at your boost levels. They are used in many many 20psi builds with zero problems. AFR has two builds from magazines documented on their website. APS is running fast to 20psi.

I would bet you used the long bolts. The burst kit would be good idea for nitrous backfire and boost that went north of 20psi.
I don't expect problems but guess would go to ls6 or new weiand if do have any.
Check those valley bolts.!Overtorquing could crack things maybe too. Dont need much torque at all on the the intake manifold bolts. Its inch pounds.

What about the gaskets between the two halves of the fast intake? Does anyone have a problem with blowing those out, or is there some fix I dont know about? I am looking to go turbo in about a month, and I currently have a Fast 90/90.

P.S. not to hi-jack your thread 50 Dave. Sorry.

Umm to repeat..afr has two 1000 hp turbo builds both running fast to at least 20psi. Aps has fast on their forged 346 build running to 20psi. Many people have run their fasts to 20psi. Beyond that would run ls6 or some other intake.I am planning to run 20psi or under and not very worried. As said have read of many instances of fast cracking but that was from using wrong bolts on valley cover. You MUST use the supplied shorter ones or get the proper ones from fast. This is likely a big reason for this happening. And you also tighten down the intake bolts pretty much just hand tight.

The optional burst panels for the fast are set to think 30psi or so. No way intake should have broke at 15 psi ..unless it was cracked already from previous improper installation or done improperly this time around.

I used the shorter bolts, and the intake still cracked at 14 psi. I called FAST and they said I need to run the burst plates for anything more then 20 psi. I asked them what I should do since mine cracked at 14 psi and they said, "give us 300 and we will send you a new lower."

I will just use an ls2 intake.

Hmm that is weird. Sure they are many guys running fast though with more than 14psi. Guess run mine for now have 90 mm tb and maybe switch to something else later if have problems like you had. So it didn't way overboost?

No it didnt. I have an eboost2 and if it hits the overboost setting it will cut boost in 1/2 and let it crawl back up. My overboost setting is set to like 16.

Well maybe I will go to that new weiand if have similar problem with my fast. The advertising for it is slightly confusing. So my current nick williams tb will bolt right to it?
One piece design is a good thing for sure for boosted cars. Still like said seen the fast on quite a few cars pushing to 20psi.
But it still sucks that yours blew apart..And can't see how those burst valves would help at that low a boost. They are only supposed to go at like 30plus from their literature.

I am still using LG longtubes.

I ran the car a little bit on the open road and it pulled nicely to 7k. I think its time to finish up the tune, and put some timing into it.
