Twin GT42R GTO 1/4 mile shakedown... advice!?
The setup...
2 GT42R 74mm turbos
Custom setup
Moser 9" Conversion
TH400 with 4400stall
Iron 408 with ET 240cc Heads
racweight - More than 3700lbs (We are putting it on a 4 corner scale next week.)
edit... Transman wrote this on another site I am just pasting here...
We took the car to the track to test out the suspension changes we made. Wish I had video, but I don't. We were only making eighth mile passes to see if everything was working as it should. We still have suspension bugs to work out, but it's much improved and now we're at least doing 1.5's instead of 2.1's. Car leaves soft still, but we're working on it. We are still only running 8 pounds of boost.
Anyhow, letting out at the quarter mile and coasting it was still running 11.20's. After 4 passes we decided to turn up the boost and make a hail Mary pass and go home before the track guys kick us out. The fastest GTO to date runs 9.70's. Due to unfortunate circumstances resulting in tool breakage, the boost could not be turned up. We were stuck with our 8 lbs of boost. We decided what the hell and let her run the quarter mile to see what happens. Mick, myself, and Blu Machine took guesses at what she would run. I guessed 10.45, Mick guessed 10.25, and Blu Machine (the pessimist) guessed 10.60.
It had a clean launch and the results were...
R/T .082
60' 1.576
300' 4.318
1/8 6.612
mph 107.23
1000 8.593
1/4 10.281
mph 132.9
Better than I had expected. Not bad for bullshit boost. Can't wait to see a pass at 20lbs. Had we been able to get a little more boost, the record would have been beat. Oh well. Next time out we're coming with a cage so we can run her harder.
All of this was done on a measly 8psi of boost. We still need to do some suspension tuning, but it's getting there. This is the first and only 1/4 mile pass the car has made.
We have not put the car on a dynoe and don't really care to at this point. But we were pretty impressed with going 10.2 on only 8psi in this pig.

Yeah... we were trying to add a WG spring when our snap ring puller broke and we had no choice but to stick with 8psi. We just got the solenoid to hook up through BS3 to use the BC option in BS3. We will be hooking that up as well and turn the boost up so we can really start to iron it all out.

I don't know anything about a 9.42 GTO. But that is still about a full second slower than where I want this car to be when all is said and done. Hell we are still running really rich as it is... and haven't even iced down the A2W IC yet. 8.50s are the plans for this car!

I know who owns that East Coast GOAT you are talking about. Don't forget that this car has full functioning items like a radio and wiper blades. Power windows and so on and gets driven almost daily. This car is just a tick away from being a 9 sec car.
