Default do i need a fuel pump step down

I have an aeromotive Eliminator fuel pump that i am going to run on my car. several people say that the pump is not for continous duty. as much as the thing cost i don't want to burn it up. car will be mainly for the street. thanks for any help

Yes it is not Aeromotive requires a step down box for street use.

Using a step down box (lowering voltage to the pump) will burn your pump up fast. The Aeromotive 16302 pulse width modulates the pump and does not lower the voltage. If your Fuel Injected I would recomend one.

If you are going to buy an Aeromotive controller wait about one month and get the new design. Part number 16306. It is rebuildable and you set the full voltage by getting the engine to the RPM and pushing a button.
