Question Procharger & Fuel pump 500-550rwhp...

I almost have everything needed to final install my Procharger this coming spring. I am still in search of what I should use for a Fuel pump. My original plan was to go with a Racetronix because of the ease of install and not having to modify the fuel bucket. But I am worried if it will be enough for my setup, since I've been searching previous threads that say N/A it will be fine, but for 500-550rwhp with FI it was not really clear?

So basically what are you using for your pumps in the RWHP range while using FI? Thanks.

*Injector wise, I'll be using precision industries 42.5lb.

550rwhp is about the limit for a single setup... some have gone higher but I would not plan for it without a voltage booster.

I offer a dual pump setup made with Racetronix components if interested.

The kit Procharger sells comes with an in-line pump to be used in conjunction with the in-tank one. So you might not have to get too crazy if you plan on a mild setup. Do you have the FMU?

The FMU is just a band-aid. Same goes with running a in-line pump. I personally wouldn't trust it for any car with more then 400rwhp.

I think the single racetronix will be fine for what I need with the 42.5 injectors, but I'd like to see people with experience with theirs.

I am gonna run a single 255 witha boost a pump on my Personal 02 Z28 78mm Turbo car. If you are only looking for 500-550rwhp you should be fine.

Stock pump and a boost-a-pump supported 505rwhp on my car without any problems.

I ended up going with an APS twin pump kit when I upgraded, mainly because there wasn't much information readily available on Lonnie's (GTO kit) stuff.

Just a question but why not go to a dual 255 intank set up? It is relatively cheap and very reliable.

Once you buy a single pump kit & a Boost-a-pump, you will be very close to the cost of my twin pump setup, but the dual pump still outflows it by a large margin.

Don't you have a problem if you run the tank low on fuel with the dual pump setup?

c0ncEpT - Mainly because I didn't want to go through the hassle of installation and wiring. Which is why I was looking into the racetronix pump instead of the Walbro, because of the need to have to modify the bucket.

Low fuel levels are not typically a problem with the dual pump kit, although I do not recommend you run any high performance car with under 1/4 tank.

The harder a car accelerates, the more the fuel climbs the back of the tank & the more important it is to keep sufficient fuel in the tank.

We both have similar hp goals, I ended buying Nasty's stage 1 racetronix kit. The only thing that I noted was it came with Lucas injectors rather than SVO's as the site indicates. Hopefully its not a big deal.

Money-wise it's hard to argue this point...

:sigh: Add one more thing to my list.

For those of you who say they are only running one pump, are you guys running a Fuel pressure regulator up front with a ruturn style system. Or is this just a walboro in the tank with the factory fuel syetem.

Only asking because I'm at about 525 rwhp and fuel pressure drops with my walboro fuel pump, MSD BAP and hot wire kit and Im using my factory lines and all with the fuel pressure regulator in the bucket.

You can upgrade the lines and it will help marginally. Problem is you are maxing out the pump. We run the Lonnies/Racetronix dual setup on the factory lines and get good reliable power to 700-750rwhp. Also cheaper than replacing lines reg. filter....

My fuel system consist of a single Walbro pump, hot wire kit, and 60lb injectors. There is more power left in my setup, but the single pump wont feed it. From my experience I would say 550rwhp is the limit with a single Walbro.
