I'm runna walbro 340 with a hotwire kit from nasty performance. That's a good route for a h/c car. Even a walbro 255 with a hotwire kit is probably enough

That is a real pump sold by a real company called TREPerformance. Not a Chinese Walbro knockoff.
However, I strongly suggest getting a Racetronix harness (or similar) no matter what pump you buy. I bought a Racetronix kit (pump and harness) from Lonnie's Performance. He also provided superb support after the sale.

seems alot of people do the racetronics pump/hotwire kit. that way you get a decent pump and the right wiring to make it work.

The harness is military quality (I used to work for them, so I recognize the subtle differences) and the pump is a drop-in. It is my understanding that the other Walbros require bucket mods to get to fit an LS1. I don't have an LS1, but that is what I have read multiple times.
The downside is that the Walbros are loud (I can hear it over my exhaust and my turbo oil pump). That TRE pump claims to be quiet, but I have never heard one, so IDK.
The downside of both is that if you ever want to go dual pumps, the vendors here require that you pull both to fit their kit. Which means you just flushed $210+ down the toilet.
