Default low fuel pressure at start

I have a 1967 Camaro with a 1998 ls1. It has a Rick's stainless fuel tank with the Corvette return fuel filter. It has #8 an fuel line. I am runing a walbor 255 pump in the tank. When the car is cold it will start fine & have 58 psi of fuel pressure an the rail. If I shut it off & try to restart it the gauge will read 50psi & be hard to start. When I get it running it will have 58psi & seems to run fine. I have not driven it alot lately because of the weather but it has ran fine when I have ben able to drive it. I have replaced the fuel pump & checked the voltage at the pump. It has 13.5 volts at the very least, some times over 14 volts. I have replaced fuel pumps a few times thinking it was a pump issue. I am not sure. Thanks Eric

I'm assuming you have an after market regulator on there because I just installed one and thats what happens to me. Curious to see the responses

It does not have a regulator. The fuel is regulated with the Corvette bypass filter.

Are you talking about when you have the key on its 50psi? If so, its not going to be 58 psi primed and it bleeds off as time goes.

Not sure what your talking about as far as the vette filter on the return. And also not sure why you would have a filter on the return. Are they stock rails or aftermarket rails?

When I purge the pump it is 50 psi no matter how many times I purge it. Am I right in saying the low pressure is making it hard to start?

On 1999 & up vettes there is a single feed fuel line. The extra fuel is bypassed in the filter & sent back to the tank. There is no filter on the return. It does have stock rails.

You said that it is fine when its cold, but after its ran and you turn it off and try to start it then it's hard to start.

That sounds to me like its in the tune. What are your mods done?

How would the tune drop FP?

If your FP is low your pump maybe going or
the line may have come loose from the pump.
This happened to me, I had low FP at idle and under throttle
the car would sputter.

You may also just need to change the filter.
