Default 98 to 99 Fuel Tank

I Have A 98 Camaro And Im Pretty Sure My Pump Went Out. I Also Have A 99 That Isnt Running And I Was Wondering If I Can Switch The Whole Tank Out Instead Of Messing With The Pumps. Will This Work?

there is also some issue with the tank in the later model being a plastic unit, where the one in the 98 is a metal ONE piece tank/with filler neck. Swapping the pump is not that bad if you are willing to cut an access hole in the back.

here is a link, I did it pretty quickly and dont think it would be nearly as hard as changing the whole tank. If you are considering it here is a link.

hope this helps

So are you doing a sumped tank to go along with that external pump?

While this is true, you can re-pin the harness from the new pump to plug in correctly and the gauge will mysteriously work again Some things never change around here.

I follow you on that but I have an issue with it at the same time. Mine works! And I went backwards!

Ok I Got One More Question. Can I Just Cap Off Where The Sending Unit Goes And Wire Up A New Gauge Wire Old School Style Or Not? Also The Summit Sump Has Two Outlets, Are They Both For The Fuel Lines Or Can I Use One As The Return? And About The 1/2 Vent It Requires I Dont Guess I Follow, Can Someone Help Me With This Issue?

If you've got the harness from the new tank from the car that plugs into the block in the back, re-pin it first and power it up...The gauge will work for 15 mins worth of work. Swing the arm for fuel level and watch it match up with the gauge. I have had no issues with mine like that other than me bending the arm which was entirely my fault dropping the sender back in. It's worth the shot for the money involved...ZERO!
