what fuel filter is everyone using?

what fuel filter is everyone using? I know I can go pick up an $8.00 from vato zone... but is there any sort of "high performance" version everyone on here uses... or am I fine with one of those...?
also, how often do you guys usually change em? Last time I changed mine was about 5 years/20k miles ago...

I try so hard to stay out of "Ghetto-Zone" and use aftermarket filters. Although my application is different than most I've always had good luck with Peterson's & System 1. That way I can see what kind of particles are going thru my fuel system.
