What's with the "clicking" nozzle at the gas station?
Everytime I go to fill up with gas, the nozzle "clicks" as if my tank were full even though it's empty. Any ideas why this would be happening? It's a pain in the *** when it takes 20 minutes to fill up by clicking the nozzle continuously...

Not trying to insult your intelligence in any way, but how far are you sticking the gas nozzle in? Have you tried to pull the gas nozzle out say 1/2" or even 1" while fueling? Have you tried holding the gas nozzle up or down as well? I would check to make sure that the filler tube to the tank hasn't moved some how as well. Just some ideas is all.

As I was writing the post I was thinking of how porno it could sound. That's why I wrote it like that trying to keep it clean. Most nozzles I've ever seen have the sensor just inside the opening. When gas mist sprays on it, it is supposed to shut off. I've had the problem before as well, so repositioned the nozzle and it usually works. On a rare occasion or 2, I've come across a bad 1 that just wouldn't let the fuel out. And have also gotten the sensor saturated and had to let it sit for a moment to let it dry off if you will. This still has the potential of being dirty. Probably why you started the thread I bet. HaHa. Good luck on getting it to work for ya anyway.

Make sure you dont have a pressurized tank...If its always pressurizing when you are fueling up you may have a blocked vent tube. Vent tube needs to be clear so you can allow the air to escape as you are filling it up.

All of my friends F bodies are like this and so is mine.
Put the nozzle all the way in. Now pull it out until the angle starts to change. It will feel like it is almost going to slip out on its own. It should fill up no problem. I think its probably around 1.5-2" into the opening at most. If you just ram it all the way in there it will never work. GM was not thinking too well when they designed the filler neck.

Make a gap at the "seal" on the nozzle where it meets the filler neck.
The seal on the nozzle is supposed to seal onto the neck and pull out fumes out of the tank as it fills, but a lot of the time it doesn't work, not sure why. I almost always have to use my finger to create a gap when I fill up at the 7-11 by my house. Other pumps/stations work no problem with my car... ...and FWIW I've never had a problem with a nozzle that doesn't have the "seal".
Hope this helps.

Don't give the nozzle a full squeeze. My bird will do the same as you described unless i back off the pump handle a little. Doesnt take much, just peddle it until you find the spot that allows the most flow without cutting fuel flow off.
