Default Sumped tank - definition?

Is a "sumped tank" done by installing AN fittings at the bottom/rear of a stock fuel tank?

usually have a box built at rear of tank with fittings facing towards rear. same as a drag race fuel cell except utilizing a stock tank. typically use a 98 tank since they are metal.

Thanks, that's what I thought but I saw pics of a set up coming out the rear of a stock plastic tank & no sump box to an external pump & was thinking maybe it could be done on a metal ('98) tank too.

Doesn't the sump portion have baffling to reduce the chance of a pump losing fuel under various braking/acceleration events? In other words, it keeps some fuel down there to feed the pump which is typically external on that setup.

yes i used the tank to baffle by using a hole saw to make my opening to the sump. this may it will retain fuel in the sump when it sloshes.
