Default Racetronix pump will not run without hotwire?

I installed a racetronix pump and hotwire kit 4 months (2000 miles) ago. It has worked as advertised to this point. Starting last week the car was occasionally surging. Not pronounced enough to investigate, but occasional surging. Now this stock (lid and cb) ls1 will not make power. It is drivable but is clearly running out of fuel at even moderate load. Today I pulled the fuse from the hotwire to check that it had not blown. I attempted to start the car with the fuse removed and it will not even maintain a healthy idle (idles rough and at 400 rpm). The car idles and drives (low throttle) with the hotwire fuse installed. What does this tell me? ideas?

How long since the fuel filter was changed? Do you have a gauge to check fuel pressure while the car is idling?

Something is wrong, as without the fuse in the hotwire harness, the pump gets no power & should do nothing. What you stated should be electrically impossible.

so how did it run before the hotwire? i was under the impression that the hotwire was electrically parallel to the factory harness?

New FF at the time of pump/hotwire install. Less than 3k miles ago. Getting a pressure gauge today...

Lonnie is rite. Car shouldn't run with the fuse out of the HotWire kit. It may run for a few seconds but that is it. It should run out of gas quick with no pressure to the rails.

Did you use the stock harness as well as the HotWire kit? Did you tie the RaceTronix kit into the factory harness?

If the HW harness is installed properly and its fuse is removed the pump will not run period.

The factory harness powers the relay in the RX harness which in turn supplies power directly from the alternator to the pump assembly.

Update for the archives...

The problem was NOT fuel related (flaky maf). However *my* car will run (maintain combustion, poorly) with no fuse in the hotwire for at least 20 seconds (didn't see the need to run it beyond 20 sec). FWIW.

Thanks for the help guys, I was just on a dead end road.
