Default questions on 2004 Z06 fuel system

I just got an 04 Z06 CE. Got a good deal on it. But after doing a little research it appears GM changed up the fuel system a bit to be more EPA freindly. Apparently everything, including the fuel filter is located inside the tank and they changed up a few things. This major change is applicable to every Z06 made midway thru the 2003 model year.

Has anyone done any actual testing on the 04 system?

I see Racetronix really doesnt have anything for the 04 except the basic walbro kit. Im wondering if there are any issues with just replacing the walbro such as pickup issues below 1/4 tank?

Any input is appreciated

Because your stock pump is capable of just about what a Walbro pump would do. Leave your stock setup alone unless you want to make power well over 550rwhp then let me know and I can help with the correct setup.

There is a hot wire kit available to provide a little extra pump voltage.

The factory Z06 pump does pretty well.

What kind of power are you planning for?

right around 600 rwhp with nitrous all dry. Obviously I will have to upgrade injectors. If the stock pump can do 550 or so....and inline pump may be an easy solution?

You wil not get much out of an inline pump. If you are going the cheap route, I would suggest a boost-a-pump with a hot wire kit.

If you are planning more mods in the future, I offer a dual intank pump kit that will support you into the 1000rwhp range.

Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss this in more detail.

Its not really about being cheap. I just dont want to slap a dual walbro setup in there that has issues at low fuel levels or any other issues. It must work like stock.

Are you saying the stock Z06 pump can pump as much as a single aftermarket walbro? Arent they different pump styles?

I have used a single walbro with Caspers volt blaster and hotwire kit to 700 rwhp on an Fbody with no issues. I probablly put 2000-2500 lbs of nitrous thru the car with that setup from 650-715 rwhp for three years without issue.

But the car also had issues below 1/8 tank.

Whats your dual intank run? Any pickup issues at very low fuel levels?

You should never run a modified performance car hard under under 1/8 tank, no matter what it is. At high power levels, your pump can easiy outflow what the stock venturi/reservoir setup can provide. Remember the factory never designed them to feed a 600rwhp engine either. Gas stations are not that hard to find that you cannot fill up when it hits 1/4 tank... No need to risk melting a piston over something trivial like this.

As for my C6 kits, I've never had a complaint, but I still recommend 1/4 tank minimum, as that is only 2 gals in each fuel tank. They are $729 installed in your tank. I return your tank ready to install, with a plug-n-play wiring harness.

Single pumps top out around 550-600rwhp, and you already know about the volt boosters & hot wire kits, that I previously mentioned. Z06 pumps are pretty good as they come, but do not expect 600+rwhp in stock form without some help.

If you need more info, please give me a call.

That is installed in your fuel tank (which you send me), not installed in your car.
