Default Thoughts on Fuel System

Okay, here's what I've got, I have a 15 gallon fuel cell, twin -8an feeds, -8an return. I'm planning to run twin Bosch 044 fuel pumps to a magnafuel twin -8an to -10an Y running the -10an braided hose to the firewall to a boost referenced regulator (was looking at the aeromotive pro, make recommendations) and -8an to each fuel rail (still undecided on brand, and if I should have twin -8an or -6an's) and one -8an return to the tank. What do you guys think? Car is coming right along, still a ways to go, would like to have a battle plan before I start impulse buying. I really appreciate any insight you experts would be willing to give me!

Thanks fellas!

Tony

You want to run the regulator after the rails...I think I can save you alot of plumming but I have some questions on your setup. Give me a call I will help you out with your system.

Or you could just use this cell and do away with half of your fittings and lines. My cell has the A1000 fuel pump and filter made right into it.

How the heck? Mine looks like that without the pump lol. Damn... =\ While you're showing that off, how do you strap that down?

You just use standard cell straps, RCI has them. The cell is straight from Aeromotive with the pump built in the cell.

Do you have to use the y fitting going into the rail?
or can you just run in one rail and out the other?

I'd rather equalize the pressure to both sides to the regulator at the crossover which will keep the pressure the same on both banks. Not sure...

As for fuel pump, the my local speed shop said nothing but good things about the aeromotive a1000 as far as an inline, but how reliable are they for weekend warrior use with the occasional cruise during the week? I do like the fact that the a1000 utilizes -10an which would be plenty of fuel for my application instead of -8an feed like the magnafuel. What do you think?

I think I made up my mind to stop being lazy and run twin bosch 044's, it'd be nice to have a "backup" if one of them failed at least to get me home.

Why not use your 2 Bosch 044 pumps, your 2 -8 out of the tank into the pumps and run one -10 feed to one side of the rail and have a crossover line to the other rail and then install your regulator at the end of the other rail, and off of your regulator run your return line back to the tank. Less line under the car and works just as well.

Your fuel pressure will stay equalized as long as you have your regulator installed after the rails. It dosn't matter if you run a feed line to each individual fuel rail or just one feed line with a crossover. It will still keep the pressure the same.

You're using twin 044's aren't you? I don't have the pump(s) yet, and was on the fence about it. I just want to make sure I don't underfuel that 408. I'm picking up a 5.3 complete tomorrow with 30k on it as my "mock up" or test engine, if it blows up, I won't cry, it was only $500 including harness, computer, relay/fuse box, carb to pan, even the fan. Just want to work the kinks out on the crap motor before installing the 408. Twin 044's sound great to me!

My old setup I had 2 Bosch 044's, but my new car I am using 3 044's.
The pumps are good for 700hp each so you will have enough pump.
My old car I had the pumps for over 2yrs feeding 1200hp without failure.
