fuel pressure regulator
I have a 98 z28 with a metal gas tank. I have a new fuel pump unit and noticed on the fuel pressure regulator there is a nipple that looks like a vacuum line would be attached to it however I have found no vacuum line on or in the tank itself. My fuel pump works for 5 days at 55psi then drops to 30 psi and the car wont run after the 5th day. the fuel pressure regulator wont hold pressure. so then I replace the whole unit again and get a new pressure regulator aswell and then works for 5 days at 55psi then back to 30 psi again. and when key is on goes to 30 psi then drops to 0 like I have no pressure at all. any thoughts?

i have the same problem with my 98 trans am. my problem is the o ring for the pressure regulator keeps blowing out because the plastic housing the regulator sits in is warped and doesnt seal properly. gone through 4 assemblies in 5 months. even the new gm unit has done this.

As mentioned above in both cases, no line goes to the nipple and your problem is likely the plastic clip that holds the regulator isn't providing enough pressure to seal the regulator against the o-ring and housing.

i ripped out my regulator and threw it in the trash. then i ran an aeromotive adjustable off the schrader valve and ran a hose from the reg. to the tank. my regulator was sticking and i didnt see the need to spend $300-$400 for a new assembly when i already had a racetronix pump and hotwire kit.
