How can you tell when a fuel pump diaphragm is good or bad??

Question How can you tell when a fuel pump diaphragm is good or bad??

is there a certain way to tell if this is good or bad? was told it could be the cause of gas in the engine oil...

I take it you are referring to a mechanical pump on a carbureted engine?

If so, yes they can dilute the oil... but most pumps have a relief hole that will let it leak externally before it goes in the oil, but it still can happen. Look for fuel residue on the pump & smell the oil to be sure.
