my friend have a 99 convertible firebird and he need to change his fuel pump. I have seen guys cut a acess door to pull the pump out the top. My question is can you do the same with a convertable? It would also help is someone have pictures to show also. thanks.

Yea you can do the same.

His car will have the pump a little farther to the front I think..I know they are in a different spot.

when i bought my car it just had the spot above the pump cut out but it looks like **** and doesnt have anything covering it

It really isn't too much of an issue to drop the tank (when low) with two people. I was able to do it without removing the rear-end.
