Default Easy way to drain fuel tank?

hey guys, the fuel in my tank, approx 10 gallons, has been in there since October. I wasn't smart enough to put Stabil in it. Getting a cam and tune soon and would like to start with fresh gas but not sure how to get it out. Car is too new for siphoning to work. I had an idea but it seems too easy...

If I take the return line off and put the end in a gas can and run the engine will it drain the tank?

thanks!

fill the rest up with new, premium fuel, and you should be fine. your gas isnt THAT old

it will still run on that gas... just use it all up and then refill it and youll be good to go

It's a drag car, not currently street legal. Don't like to keep a full tank. Using it up will take about a month and I need to get it tuned before Spring. Would like to have fresh gas for the tune.

Will my return line idea not work?

Disconnect the fuel supply line at the motor and run a jumper wire accross the fuel pump relay and just pump it all out.

I know that would work, just looking for an easier way. My relays are aftermarket and I have no clue which terminals are which. Also, I already have plenty of extra -6 hose I could use from the return but no -8 hose to extend feed line. Will the return idea not work? Seems I could just run the motor as it drained. Am I missing something?

Take the return line from the regulator into a gas can. Start the car & let it idle.

A255lph pump will flow approx 1 gal per minute.

I would not worry about it only being 4mo old, it will be fine.
I never run the stabile stuff in my toys. Actually my R1 had stablie in it when I bought it and it ran like crap the first tank of gas or so till I got all that junk out of it. I just fill it up with some good gas before it sits all winter and go and start it every so often.

If it weren't for the cam and tune being done the next time it starts I wouldn't worry either. I just want to make sure there are no glitches when its tuned so fresh gas seems like a good idea. Shouldn't be a lot of effort and I'll feel better if nothing else

If you "have" to empty the tank why can't you just unhook the filter and turn the key to "on"?

What fuel is in the tank? Honestly, I'd throw a bottle of "Heet" in the tank to soak up any excess moisture and run it. Change your filter after your next fill up, should be fine

Exxon 93. The pump will only run for a few seconds with key on plus would have to put the car up high on stands to get a container under the filter.

I'm in the same boat. The fuel in my lines is yellow and stinks. Been sitting since October but I don't have a return line. My buddy has a pump that we use for a LOT of stuff like this, but I don't want to hit the filter sac at the bottom of the pump from sticking the small hose down the filler neck.

Don't mean to jack, but what are the odds of hitting the filter sac at the bottom of the pump?
