Default Keeping fuel level gauge correct when swapping to '98 metal tank from '99+ plastic...

I'm swapping with another member on here, my plastic '99+ tank for his metal '98 tank. I need the metal tank so I can put a sump on it for my fuel setup. I would still like the fuel gauge to work correctly. I searched on here and maybe i'm just not using the correct wording in my search, but I can't find any information about this. Can anyone tell me what I would need to do to get the gauge to work correctly with the '98 tank as i'm sure it's not just a plug in and it works. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
