Default lt1 racetronics and hotwire kit install now fuel gage reads 1/2 steady

fuel gage worked perfectly before install now it reads 1/2 all the time anyone else ever run into this?

Seeing that it reads half, it is likely the level sensor in the tank. If it was wiring related, it would read full or empty due to a short or a broken wire.

I suggest you recheck your install to see if the sensor is bound up & not moving. It should read 0-90 ohms as you move the float arm.

funny it went bad just by putting the pump in my thoughts were backfed votage through new harness or simalar

You have a 16yr old car & a delicate sensor that is succeptible to corrosion from moisture. It could have been on its last leg & just a light bump could have fiished it off.

I suggest you get an ohm meter & check things to figure out why it is reading incorrectly. It is a fine wire & any significant current such as backfeeding power from the pump will immediately burn the sensor out, making it read full.
