Question fuel door vs. Integrity

So i am looking at replacing my fuel pump in my 98 Z28 and was just under the car. I will have to do this alone and am wondering...........if I cut the Trap Door in my car's body above the gas tank will this hole have any negative effect on the body ie: twisting while under acceleration? I already have T-tops and we know that these cars could use sub-frame connectors to begin with. I just don't really want to do anything to jeopardize the integrity of the body. Are there any facts about this Trap Door Method?

I wouldn't worry too much about losing structural integrity from cutting out a 12x10in square from your trunk pan. The cover you put over the hole would reinforce that area anyway. SFCs help in that area of the unibody where your roof, rocker sills, and doors are basically the only things tying your front and rear sub-frames together.

I'm going 1.3 60fts with a hole cut in mine, many more guys in the 1.2s. Integrity comes with solid suspension parts such as SFC, LCAs etc... It won't hurt....

That area doesn't appear to be heavily stressed and/or loaded.

OK Cool Thank You! I feel better now,I just hated the thought of pulling the tank in my garage. I can stick a hose into the tank and let it drain out the fuel line opening correct?
