Question In tank fuel pump position

Do factory in tank fuel pumps need to be mounted to where they are standing about vertical, or can you angle the fuel pump in a different manner? For example, tilting it a bit or even mounting it almost horizontally but flush against the floor of the gas tank.

Additional information: I'm running a factory style fuselage, and this isn't for EFI. I'm running a carbed LT1 and I bought a 3rd gen TBI in tank fuel pump that I'm gonna rig up to the factory style sending unit and place it in a baffle. Figured it'd be a clean, factory style setup and the TBI fuel pump can be regulated down to around 5-7 psi.

Thanks, Josh.

you want to use a 4th gen. Fuel pump module.
This is the setup I am using on my 79 TA.

ha, you building a car or an airplane? lol. an electric fuel pump can be mounted however you want in the tank. even upside down if you wanted. it'll work as long as there is fuel at the pump's pickup...
