What year, model. Some years and models it is mounted on the fuel rail and some are mounted in the fuel pump module.
This is a 99-2002 Firebird/Camaro fuel pimp module showing the pressure regulator.
To check operation, connect a fuel pressure gauge. Pressurize the fuel system and time how fast the pressure builds up.
Turn the key off and the pressure should hold for quite a long time.
Whit this test the pump could be faulty too.

Hello, I am having a problem with my 02 trans am. It has an extended start I checked the fuel pressure with the key on, car off and it shoots up to 58psi then a second later it drops and that's when the extended start begins. I also checked the fuel pressure with the car on idle and it's a steady 58psi and even when i accelerate it stays a steady 58psi. So, I'm leaning more towards the fuel pressure regulator being bad. Any feedback would be appreciated
