Default Fuel pump failure help

Got an 84 monte with a 5.3 swap in an I've had 2 fuel pumps fail in 2 months. The last pump last less than 2 weeks. The first pump was a walbro 255 from eBay an was really noisy an I really wrote it off as being a china knock off. So I ordered a Granatelli 255 from summit on the 25 of last month an it went out this morning without warning car ran great last night turned it off at the house an went out this morning an no start checked it out an once again dead fuel pump. Anyone have any ideals on what could be going on or what to check other than voltage to the pump an ground. I did have one friend recommend checkin the height the pump is sitting at in the tank to make sure the pump is not sitting to low an pressing the sock on the bottom of the tank. Any advise would be mucky appreciated.
