Fuel pump only kicks on with programmer plugged in?

Fuel pump only kicks on with programmer plugged in? Ok so i just did a cam install on my 01 ss and while i was at it i threw a set of 40# injectors in it and a walboro 255. So i went to fire it up for the first time and and turned the key on and the pump didn't prime so we scratched our heads for a little bit on that one, then i decided that i would plug in my slp diablo tuner just so i could check for any weird codes but once i pulgged it in and turned the key on the pump primed and then shut off like normal. i was then able to fire the car up with the programmer plugged in but when i shut it off and unplugged the programmer once i turned the key back on the pump once again didn't work! I am at a complete loss and have no clue why it would work with the programmer plugged in but not with it unhooked. any input would be much appreciated.
