Default Fuel Issues? Opinions please

So, I just got my 383 up and running. For fuel I have upgraded injectors with a racetronix fuel pump with hot wire kit. Issue is it has to crank a long time before it fires up. Sometimes if I turn the key forward before firing it helps. We checked the fuel pressure on the rail and when running is at about 60 psi. Once we turn the car off the pressure goes back down to zero psi within seconds. Car would fire after about 30 psi built.

Any ideas? Is there any other issue here besides the starting pain in the ***. I have not had the car dyno tunes as of yet, just a mail order on it.

How is the system plumbed?
Fuel pump check valve?
Small leak at the in-tank connection?

No idea how plumbed or even what that means. I had a shop do it with my build. Nobody really knows what this is occurring. Is this maybe normal with a new pump that is stornger than the stocker?

The stock LS1 fuel system dead heads into the fuel rail. And the stock pump has a check valve in it to prevent back flow into the tank.

Sounds like your new pump doesn't have a check valve in it. Once you turn off the pump, all the fuel drains back into the tank.

Yes, what ends up working is I "prime" the system by turning the key to the on position twice and then fire her up and seems to work good...just hope it's normal. Nobody seems to really know.

It is not normal, it should hold pressure for quite some time unless something is leaking. Could be injector, pressure regulator, fuel pump check valve or hose/line at the pump in the tank.

Check the fuel pressure regulator to see if its wprking correctly. To diagnose try to pinch one of the return hoses and see if the pressure shoots up. If not the regulator the issue of nothing injector leakdown test
