Walbro pump died in ~5k miles??

Walbro pump died in ~5k miles?? Is this normal? It is stamped with "Walbro Made in USA" and purchased from racetronix via Texas Speed, so I trust it is the real thing and not a knock off.
Unfortunately I bought the kit 2-3 years before actually using it, so I assume I'm SOL on any warranty.
