Default Swapping from metal to plastic tank?

I have pulled my metal gas tank out of my '94 Z28 in preparation to install a new Walbro fuel pump. A buddy who knows I just did this is offering me the plastic gas tank out of a '01 Camaro SS.

Questions:
1. I think it is a direct plug and play. Yes or no? I have not pulled one of these plastic tanks yet so I'm not sure. If the plastic gas tank is a different shape, the mounting straps may not line up and bolt up properly. I'm concerned about that as I know they hold different amounts of fuel, so they may not mount exactly the same.

2. What is the weight savings? (that's why I would do it)

3. Any problems with my fuel gage working properly?

4. What would be a fair price? He has left $ up to discussion.

I think a few forum members have done this already, so please chime in.
TIA!

Thanks J-M. BADFNZ also hooked me up.

Looks like doing that would expand my project more than I want.
