Default Broke fuel guage?

My fuel guage has been acting funny lately. It goes to full when I fill up then doesn't go down very much if at all. If it does then it will eventually go back up to full. What is the problem here?

It sounds like your fuel gauge sending unit is on it's way out.

What does that mean? in terms of dollars? Is it something I can do myself?

I bought a fuel sending unit off of ebay it was 50 bucks shipped. My mechanic did the install...charged me 45. I believe you have to drop the exhaust, and the rear end...then pull out the gas tank and install the new sending unit. I got previously quoted at a dealer for 1100 and that includes parts and labor. I suggest you look on the internet for a slightly used Fuel Sending Unit.
