Default Question about installing fuel pump

I know I have to drop the tank. But when the Fuel Pump went out on our 86, the guys had to drop the rear axle and cut the exhast off to get the tank down.

Do you have to do all that with the forth gen?

Definitely!
If you exhaust is stock, it'll need to be cut... But if you have an aftermarket cat-back, it should have a clamp joint near enough to the axle that you wont need to cut it off. That is, of course, if the clamps didnt dimple the pipes so bad that you still need to cut it.

The rear end does not need to be removed. Support the car up in the air from the frame, letting the rear end dangle down. No need to unbolt anything from the rear-end. With the cat back removed, the fuel tank slides out. Bob
